Ingredients

  • 66 Grams White Granulated Sugar (1/3 Cup)
  • 71 Grams Packed Brown Sugar (1/3 Cup)
  • 28 Grams Butter (1/4 Cup)
  • 62 Grams Applesauce (1/4 Cup)
  • 4.2 Grams Vanilla Extract (1 Teaspoon)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 8 Grams Baking Powder (2 Teaspoons)
  • 180 Grams All-Purpose Flour (1 1/2 Cups)
  • 80 Grams Milk (1/3 Cup)
  • 230 Grams Apple, Peeled and Chopped (1 Large)

Cinnamon Sugar Filling and Topping

  • 4 Grams Ground Cinnamon (1/2 Tablespoon)
  • 71 Grams Packed Brown Sugar (1/3 Cup)

For the Crust

  • 14.2 Grams Melted Butter (1 Tablespoon)

Instructions

  • Use a mixer to cream white sugar, brown sugar, and butter until fluffy.
  • Beat the eggs thoroughly and add them to the mixture along with the vanilla and applesauce.
  • Combine baking powder and flour, and then add them to the mix along with the milk. Fold together the ingredients until everything has been moistened.
  • Pour half of the batter into a greased 8 in. x 4 in. loaf pan.
  • Mix cinnamon with the second half of the brown sugar. Divide the cinnamon mixture in half and sprinkle it over the batter along with half of the apples.
  • Stir the remaining apples into the batter. Pour the rest of the batter into the pan, and then sprinkle the last of the cinnamon sugar over the top.
  • Preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit (176° Celsius) and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Your loaf should rise nicely in the oven. Brush the top with melted butter, and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes. Poke with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, your bread is done!

Notes

Keep your apple slices small or your bread will fall apart too easily and be difficult to cut.
